Weby - Nice post. I want to make sure I'm on the same page.

You said : "My understanding is that there is some double counting of money's owed...10 cents from STMicro...50 cents from Dell for the Optiplex 620s shipped since June...for which we still may have not been paid. It's my understanding that the only money to Wave from the Optiplex line was the .10 from STM and only included the ESC. There was no bundled ETS and no .50 per unit at least up to this point. The following is from the TPM informational page relative to the Optiplex 620. The only additional money to Wave from Dell would be if the customer decided to purchase the optional ETS as did Snackman and others.

"Customers who deploy TPM should also purchase Wave Systems Embassy Trust Suite from Dell Software & Peripherals to enable full TPM features including key archival and migration."

Is this your understanding as well?

It's my understanding Wave doesn't receive a royalty from Dell on the current Optiplex models. Those models are bundled only with Wave's ESC and CSP via the STM chip which we know to be something like a .10 royalty. I once e-mailed Wave about whether Dell would bundle ETS on the current 1.2 Optiplex models following the signing of the November ETS licensing agreement, and the reply I got is that they don't usually change the "build" of an existing production model, including software pre-installs.

I do think there are Dell enterprise customers who are now or will be looking at running TPM pilots, who have a significant number of the current STM/Wave-bundled 1.2 Optiplex models to activate. So these machines are 1.2 equipped and ready to go.

I also anticipate the upcoming 1.2 refresh on Dell desktops, presumably Optiplex models, will be ETS-bundled, and therefore royalty generating.
