I use this for removing things in startup that I don't recognize. You can just type in the name in the search window:

Hello Flo, I am going crazy and I hope you or someone can help me. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 replacing XP. Everything went ok except for IHUB, I can no longer read posts as they are completely blank. I can read posts in " manage " mode on boards I moderate. I tried two browsers, also tried disabling my Kaspersky Internet security.

Have you ever heard of this ?

been there

Flobewan... I've been working with your 'windows 7 tune up'. Discovered that I do not have JAVA. Should I download it?

Thx for the sticky note . . .

If you have an SSD I'd suggest you set 5. Virtual Memory lower than what Window's managed size sets it at.

My SSD is a 'smallish' 128 GB and setting virtual memory at the Windows recommended level (>24,000 GB)
eats up too much of my drive's total Used Space and slows it down, albeit almost imperceptibly...

I have it set to 2064 GB...

This is a very extensive list...

"You know the saying if it isn’t broke don’t fix it."

Just by me saying, I'm not having any computer issues, just whammied myself.

That being said, I've run malwarebytes and I'm all good there.

I've updated and run Glary. All good there.

I generally run a scan with Advanced System Care once a week.

With Iobit, they have what's called driver booster, to update old drivers. After running the driver scan, they list all my drivers as extremely old.

Is that something that needs to be done?

This is a computer Bruce built for me many, many, many years ago.

T'was originally a Windows XP, then you helped me install Windows 7.

Really hate to screw anything up, but I wonder if I should tune it up with your list.

Thanks.

Regarding Step 6...

6. Clean out startup, CCleaner
This is one of the best things you can do to speed up your computer.

If I disable something, is it immediately disabled or do I need to re-boot the computer?

Thx.

Hi Flo

As a former IT person I can say that this is a great list!

One thing I'm having trouble with is Malwarebytes, which I love, but installing a recent download and then running it I ran into it wanting me to do a paid upgrade if I wanted it to actually fix anything.

Did I mess up the install or is that just the way it is now?

Many thanks.

TY, saved it to my keep files and I printed it. I have already done a lot of this, but I am willing to go from start to end of this as soon as i get the the time.
