Ranger, Red and Loop are absolutely correct. The Mediator's primary purpose is to settle the dispute.

I've been in Mediation and the 2 parties are together with the Mediator only at the beginning (and end, if they settle) to explain: his role, and allow the parties to briefly present their positions. Thereafter, he shuttles between the 2 rooms bullying you and demeaning your position so that you'll lower your expectations and provide a reduced offer for him to give to the other party. He paints a "worst case" outcome for you, to psychologically weaken your resolve and position. The good news is, he also does that to the other party as well.

In our case, he'll be kicking the crap out of Nok and shooting many, many holes in their position. So, if we simply do what Red is suggesting, we'll be fine.
