Don't you find it the least bit ironic that Great Intel feels the need to mention their smaller competitor by name, and stage a black-box comparison between their next-generation 6-9 month 65nm future part and the competitor's 2-month-old last-revision 90nm part?

OK here is what strikes me as odd in these benchmarks - in the keynote a comparison was made using call of duty between the EE3.73 and the Conroe - the difference being a 23% improvement in fps. Ok now we see the comparison with the Conroe and FX60 at 2.8GHz no less and the claimed improvement across a variety of gaming benchmarks is around the same. This implies that the EE3.73 is the same as the 2.8Ghz FX60 in gaming. If anyone believes that they need their head examined.
That said even allowing for some degree of manipulation the conroe does look like a mighty challenge to AMD - I await independent benchmarks with much anticipation.
