Second, regardless of domestic procedures in Nicaragua, foreign investors fall under the DR-CAFTA treaty. Under DR-CAFTA, a foreign entity registers their investment with Nicaragua's foreign investment office. All disputes are then handled by an international arbitration tribunal which uses international standards (so, appraisals, comparative sale valuations, etc.).
