While we cannot make concrete predictions about the impact of the canal on Bluefields, Nicaragua, there are several things that need to be understood. First, Bluefields presently has less than 100,000 people. It does not have any major hotels with the most modern featuring a mere 16 rooms. It does has an inner city business district that is growing with restaurants and pubs. It features banking institutions. There is presently no working highway to Bluefields, although the government is constructing one. This means people coming and going to the town do so via boat. Taxis are the primary form of transport in the town.

Now look at the Panama Canal. It presently employs over 9,000 people full time. They estimate that the expansion will add at least another 5,000 positions and 40,000 temporary workers. The Panama canal is not far from Panama City, so the workers were available there.

Bluefields, on the other hand, is not close to Managua. Therefore, many opportunities will fall to those living in the town. While the Bluefields people hold an advantage because they are bilingual, many educated people such as engineers and trained persons will have to relocate from Managua (and from other countries in certain cases).

Therefore, the canal will provide a significant change to Bluefields, not just for a "few." Everyone from the street vendors selling fruit and fish to the construction companies would benefit from the canal.

In your email to the Company, you suggested the figures of those permanently employed would be a few hundred. Understand that the plan for the canal is also to have a land canal (rail) and highway accompanying it. Looking at the changes the Panama Canal caused to that country, and considering the thinly populated nature of the Southern Autonomous Region (RAAS) of Nicaragua, we believe those figures are inaccurate.

Again, people considering what impact a canal would bring to Bluefields need to look at other canals and the number of jobs and businesses created as a proximate result.

Therefore, we think our investment into 430 acres will provide us with great opportunities.
