In the Needham pitch I thought I heard comments to the effect of $2 per device for 3G patent licensing and $1 per device for a modem software license.

When Rich talked about the "2009 opportunity" chart he said "we are in the upper left hand quadrant today" which means low coverage and ~$2 per device for 3G patent licensing. He went on to say that he expected the avg per device to trend down over time as the coverage and volumes go up.

During the Q & A Bill gave an example of "value pricing on a patent and modem licensing package" where he used $2/device for patents and $1/device for the modem. Could not make out for certain what he did with those numbers to explain the "package value" angle, but it may have been $2.50/device??

Whatever the pricing on the modem turns out to be, the killer idea is having IDCC's modem license drag their patent licensing front and center at each OEM.
