October 1st 2012 is beginning of 1st quarter for year 2013.
October 1st 2013 is beginning of 1st quarter for year 2014.

For example for year 2012-2013

1st quarter --> oct,nov,dec of 2012 is 1st quarter of 2013
2nd quarter --> jan,feb,mar of 2013 is 2nd quarter of 2013
3rd quarter --> apr,may, june of 2013 is 3rd quarter of 2013
4th quarter --> july,aug,sep of 2013 is 4th quarter of 2013

So I believe April 1st, 2013 is beginning of 3rd quarter in 2013.
