The point made here, and in other forums ad nauseum, is that almost any object can be used as a killing instrument. Guns, however, are designed to inflict the maximum lethal damage to a target, whether it be to an inanimate object or an animate one. Plus they can be very portable and easy to conceal.
A drunk guy back home a few years ago killed a guitarist with his own guitar because the band wouldn't play one of his requests (I swear I'm not making this up!) Doesn't mean we should ban guitars, dances, or music, but it's not a bad idea to ban concealed weapons at dances/bars where there are a lot of drunk people present.
