that was crazy, I just read that article, and whalla, there's your kudo's to reach's find.
In two other articles it is clear that Seagate claims there is no drive performace penalty with their FDE implementation.
So far, as I understand it, Seagate is still only committed to shipping the drive, that third party software must be procurred seperately.
It would be nice to see it bundled (Wave KTM that is) but the price is likely much less that way (as per INTC e.g.), ahh such a dilema. Sell thrid party for more bucks, or pound it through bundled for less per seat?
I still really don't understand the Wave/Seagate relationship. Why isn't Seagate bundling KTM? Is it just a difference in price point feelings between Wave and Seagate? I'm not aware of other off-the-shelf solutions per se. Wouldn't you just be grumpy as a goat if you had an encrypted drive and then realise you dropped the ball on key backup and recovery just when you needed it? I know, enterprise markets, blah blah blah ... just seems weird to me.
