This administration goes non compos mentis when faced with the suggestion that a fossil based fuel might be part of a long term energy solution.

That’s part of the problem, but not the whole problem. The utility and chemical industries are powerful opponents of any proposal that would increase the demand—and hence the price—of US natural gas.
