c m, in my opinion it is not a "TiVO-like device," rather a TiVo killer. And I don't disagree with the IDHVC connection either.
If, and I can't say one way or the other, but IF this box has a TPM on it AND if AAPL allows the OS X to run on it, then this would lend credence to a rumor I heard, a rumor mind you, that AAPL is bringing an iTunes-like service out for movies whereby the end-user will be able to make purchases through the iFlick (my terminology) store, secured by the TPM and delivered through the INTC box.
Let me categorically deny having any information other than rumors and my own speculation to any of this scenario (posited above and in the past) and I reserve the right to be correct or incorrect based upon such summations and guesses.
