When it comes to safety I like to look at the chain saw. By design it will cut your leg off.

Does that mean we stop selling chain saws? Well, there are factions in the US that would have you believe it should only be sold to licensed chain saw specialists. The mostly deadly device sold in the US is the automobile. We are able to live with it and manage the threat.

Yes we need oversight - but it must be reasonable and unbiased. I find some people want us to believe that we need a big brother state. I'd be fine with that provided that history was on the side of big brother being benevolent. Too bad that history provides proof that benevolence is lacking and manipulation and avarice are the rule.
