Sounds like great news to me. It means that those fighting over patents will want to counteract by having the very foudational patents that IDCC does own. This should make the IDCC patents more valuable even to Apple. If Apple can in some way have the controlling patents they can enforce them against all. Google and Microsoft and Samsung and others just in my opinion can't let these patents go into the hands off a fierce compeitor to be used against them.

My opinion is the price of poker has just been elevated. Do you not think that in strong hands the IDCC patents will be pure gold as foundational and essential and all the other patents that will be in all kind of devices that IDCC owns will not be enforced against all competitors?

My opinion is if Apple buys them then its almost certain they will have the powder to put a hurt on Google and all others. Samsung is now in a very defensive position with Apple and may get enough partners to buy the patents, or push the price higher if Apple ultimately buys IDCC.

I actually think to many people are just overlooking how important the IDCC patents really are and how valuable they will be in the patent wars. Look at how many products that will be having the IDCC technology inside. Do you not think that Apple or whomever aquired IDCC is not going to cross license or seek injunctions against all these products if they do not pay.

The list of infringers in my opinion will be humongous and the real players will see the real potential uses of these patents and what they can do for or against them. IDCC will be bought in my opinion and 12 billion may be way to cheap.

Instead of trying to find why there will not be bids you better be looking at who and why they will need the IDCC patents more than ever.
