It could have damaged the hard drive...do you have another?

Does the unit have a factory restore feature?

and do you have disks or resources to do a factory restore?

A cracked display if its still working will not slow down the computer....and if this happened because you dropped it then it could be something mechanical which is why I mentioned Hard drive.

If the heads were damaged you would not be able to boot period and if the head actuator was damaged that could be cause for the slow boot/processes.

If the computer is not doing any strange things other than slow...then...

I would try either restoring the software or install a new drive and then restore factory software on new drive.
