Ranger, From an old HR guy:

The way it was announced and worded tells me that "they got shown the door." Question is Why? Possible reasons might be: 1) They collectively screwed up.....i.e. Did something they shouldn't have (sold shs, at the wrong time, or, when they were told not to, etc.) 2) Got on the wrong side of the vote/argument, and wouldn't let go. (i.e. Pizzed off the wrong people, like HC, NOK, or Heartland.) 3) Outlasted their usefulness (too much $ for too little output and production.) 4) One other reason might be that, their demise and exit now were a condition of the final settlement, hence the timing.

Timing is a bit "iffy" when it happens so close to the finish line. But the fact it happened to the 2 of them speaks more to #s 1, 2, and 4, above rather than 3. My best guess is that it was 2 or 4.
