Every case I have seen that involved Mayer he ruled for the patent holder. The most recent case was TiVo, where he authored the favorable opinion with Lourie concurring and Rader dissenting. From my observations of Mayer at the hearing, he was in complete agreement with Dunner and in complete disagreement with Ms. Valentine and Mr. Flynn.

Mayer probably just calls it as he sees it (and sometimes he doesn't favor the patent holder). Although he didn't say a word in the IDCC case (as usual), his body language spoke volumes.
