A De Beers Conspiracy in Fort a La Corne?

I've heard rumors that De Beers went private because of the tremendous mineral wealth of the Fort a la Corne (FALC) region for some time now. Matter of fact, it was Urban who brought my attention to the rumor in a 2002 PR:

Do you mean cease-trade Urban?

Well, I finally decided to do a little research into the topic in order to put that rumor to rest. However, as I progressed in my investigation I started to run into an odd series of seemingly meaningless details that ultimately led me to one conclusion.

What was it? What was your meaningless conclusion?

Do me a favor, follow the set of links I've provided and give me your honest opinion. Remember, I have no delicate sensibilities to offend, so be honest in your appraisal. Please tell me there's nothing there and I should take a vacation from these boards.

You need a vacation!

1) Why did De Beers recently decide to spend $17 Billion dollars to go private?.

It probably made the insiders more cash than you can count sheep while thinking up new rumours.

2) Why did De Beers recently decide to settle a longstanding case with the US Government?

New company new deal and the cost was pocket change. De Beers cleverly dragged this court case out for several years.

3) Why did De Beers recently decide to move FALC up on it's list of priorities & invest $6 million dollars recently?

1963 is recently? They discovered Sturgeon Lake in 1988 and started the diamond rush in Saskatchewan and have been looking in the general area since the early 60's.

4) Why did Kensington recently move to protect itself from a takeover by De Beers?

It makes a good press release for the longs to make up new rumours.

5) Why has Kensington been accusing De Beers of dragging it's feet on the FALC project and intentionally hiding the wealth of the area?

It makes a good press release for the longs to make up new
rumours and feeds the general paranoia.

6) Why at a time when De Beers is faced with a long list of problems in it's African mines, are they across the world digging around in Canada? Shouldn't they try to appease and pay off petty dictators? Shouldn't they concentrate on the fact that some of their African mines appear to be "mined out"? What about mounting a defense against the Israeli tycoon who single-handedly broke the De Beers monopoly on the continent of Africa. Furthermore, isn't he taking away old sources of diamonds from De Beers by offering a better deal to the petty dictators one must deal with in Africa. How about fighting the wave of sentiment against the import of conflict/blood diamonds. On July 9th, the first case of successful industry self-regulation against trade in so-called “conflict diamonds” took place when Congo-Brazzaville was punished for failing to prove the source of its diamond exports. All the aforementioned issues appear to me excellent reasons why De Beers is intent on leading a new mineral rush into the Canadian wilderness.

FALC is hardly wilderness and in case you have not heard they are focusing all their efforts on their Victor pipe in Ontario.

7) China's Communist rulers have a blunt message for anyone who frets about the planned Chinese takeover of Canada's biggest mining company: Get ready for more to come. By coincidence, the country of Ecuador is also mentioned.

Bring it on baby!

8) Why has De Beers placed such a high value on Canadian conflict/blood free diamonds.

They really don't. Angola was shut down because DeBeers and could not compete in that area. Conflict Free was just another invention to shut this production down much to the detriment of the poor people who make a living panning and prospecting for diamond.

9)De Beers transferred an Exec. VP who was in Africa for 20 years to FALC a while back. Read the posts below and add another piece to the puzzle that is FALC. My thanks to abadgoodgirl for making these two posts.

DeBeers has been in Canada for the last 70 years under various names including Diapros and Monopros and now DeBeers Canada Exploration, Inc.

In summary, I apologize for the conspiracy laden post, however, that is part and parcel of the search for the missing link that "we all know is out there".

Don't worry about it - it did not move the price of CMKX one iota.

Good Luck and it's ALL speculation, OR IS IT?

IT IS!!

HEY - did you steal that from those milk guys?
