The only flaw in this idea is that the volume you see on a daily basis is both buy and sells. On the NASDAQ and pinkies both sides of the transaction is reported.

On the NYSE they only report buys.

If you sell 1000 shares of CMKX it's reported as 1000 sold and 1000 bought. So the daily numbers are twice the amount of the single transaction.

If you buy 1000 shares of GM it is reported only as a buy of 1000 shares. The selling of the shares is not reported to the daily volumes.
