Also, I think Weil and the current managers of the holding company understand that the banks are no good in the holding company's hands anymore. The Wamu name was tarnished the moment of the seizure. People would withdraw their deposits if the bank came back imho. Who wants to deal with a bank that has been seized. Even if the holding company gets back into the banking business, its name is going to be changed to distance itself from all the badwill that now exists with regard to the Wamu name.
