Then you work with engineers who shouldnt have jobs, I know trig, I know many people who are excellent at math and real world issues - prior to joining college. My little sister is one of them, she knows all the math - she just doesn't know what to DO with it...since society is set up the way you stated...it's set up to benefit the lazy, and not challenge new ideas.

I brought this up to a friend of mine the other day, who shrugged it off and didn't care or understand what I was saying...that there are no more Apple computers, there are no more "Real" inventions, there are just bloated lazy ideas and fraud.

I do agree with you on the fact that many people that come out of college are just as worthless as they were when they went in.

If you think I just sit here and run my mouth and don't actually DO anything, you are mistaken...I know this generation you speak of and it is most of my peers. Complainers, whiners, given everything to them by their parents. Can't hold a simple conversation. Can't be interested in anything else anybody says besides their own.

The truth is that as a culture, it's been going on for years.

I'm quoting this from someone else that put it the way I see it, especially regarding my peers:

"Modern day Americans are often trapped in lousy, disappointing, soul crushing careers. If they are not divorced already, their marriages are on the rocks. They live far outside of their means, rack up thousands of dollars of debt, and then they work overtime to pay for the toys they never have time to play with. They dedicate their lives to pleasing ungrateful children who won’t amount to much more than they did. Hours of their downtime is spent in front of the television, switching from reality show to reality show, because it is easier to watch other people live life than it is to live their own. In a rare moment of creativity, they might write a secret out on a postcard and send it to a website because they don’t have a single person in real life that they trust enough to share their fears with. They feel all of this on top of the usual human maladies of sickness, death and grief."

But you can't sit there and tell me that anybody who hasn't been drafted/engaged in military combat doesn't know what reality is...

You may think you and I differ greatly, but in fact I share the same opinion as you about the generation we live in...in my opinion, 95% of my peers are pathetic losers.

I never got A+'s in school, but was always told that college wasn't right for me, and now that I have seen my two older sisters enter and leave college with $50k in debt, and making $40k a year, I finally realize the reasons for NOT going to college...college nowadays doesn't train people or teach them anything, college and high school nowadays are breeding grounds for self loathing individuals whom dont share an ounce of respect for one another, yet love to fake it every step of the way.

The amount of friends is more important than the QUALITY of these friends, the more you drink the cooler you are, etc etc.

This is what it's come to, but I don't consider myself one of these people, and I'm sure if you met me and I met you we would both be able to actually converse easily, its hard to "listen" over the internet.

I say old fart humorously, in fact, by most standards you arent even a senior citizen yet (My dads 55th was on the 13th and while out to dinner I was joking about him ordering off the senior menu, but you have to be 62 now in many places to get the special prices!)

I've been blessed to never have been drafted (of course, nobody my age has been - but to be honest, most people my age just wouldnt care cause they are too busy styling their hair begging dad for $20 for beer money), however I did begin enlistment in the Army in 2006 when I turned 18, took the ASVAB, physical, etc. However my mother wouldn't let me join.
