Bruce, over the weekend you suggested to someone about downloading the latest MS updates.

I realized it had been quite awhile since I did so.
So I then downloaded 4-5 of the "Critical Updates" and one of the Win XP update.

The only Critical updates remaining that I did NOT download were:
816093: Security Update Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM)
and Windows XP Driver 5.10.0.5410 for Realtek AC 97 Audio (KB833846)

Now there has been a change when I power up the 'puter.
It happens faster.
And I don't get the strange "windows loading" and "Tray App loading" popup windows
near the end of the power up procedure.

I run the usual AVG and other cleanup steps daily, and defrag. about every 10 days.
But it seems as tho the updates cleaned up the system, runs like new.
