then I would say that IDCC managment was incompetent during their past negotiations with Nokia and seriously overplayed their hand. I believe that a settlement of that reduced magnitude could probably have been negotiated with Nokia prior to their request for arbitration.

I think the word incompetent is rather strong. My opinion is that they were inexperianced. This team has no deal makers and too many lawyers. They needed to make settlements not statements. They should have settled this prior to last July.

Basically they made a lot of mistakes but they are taking the steps to fix them. I stated last year that they should take 25 cents on the dollar and move on. Past cash settlement have little affect on stock prices where as recurring revenue streams carry huge stock price premiums.

Lastly, the past is the past and what I really care about is the future and the ability for the stock price to rise from here. If they settled right now for 25 cents on the dollar with foward percentage in place set at ERICSSON's rate the stock price would double and we would never see under $30 again. It makes sense and dollars to put this behind them and if it costs past royalties so be it. This will finally be a WIN for the shareholders.
