From what I gather crops are in good shape here. I think seeding was finished in a timely fashion The province has had timely rains for the most part. Southern areas are maybe a bit wet. Central areas are just about perfect. Urban people are complaining so we must be getting adequate moisture. It has been on the cool side but just about perfect growing conditions imo...the heat will come.
Seeing a few more acres of peas. By the looks of it to me some individual producers are making a bit of a statement. The canola-cereal ratio seems about normal. Can't comment on wheat vs. barley, haven't read anything and I have trouble telling the difference at the four leaf stage when I am going by at 110km/hr. I can't see, with barley hovering at $5 anybody who is not in a traditional, high probability of good grade, wheat area being tempted to increase wheat acres any more than their normal rotation dictates.
I'll keep my eye open for the official acreage numbers and post it if I see it.
