I think that it would be more appropriate to view the sponsorship as nothing more than one asset buying another. Buy disguising it as advertising UC is able to buy a piece of a champion race car driver with pre-tax dollars thus creating a new passive income stream for himself. I don't think it goes much deeper than that.
