Do the readers of that apocryphal story with its cast of anonymous characters ever consider how much more money could be made playing the trend, instead of engaging in some cabal to try to reverse it? Why would those who know that "the trend is your friend" make some Herculean effort to buck it? Because they are more interested in hurting other investors than in making money?
