I say put the energy into designing the best cars to fit the marketplace. That way all vendors make money, the manuf company makes money, the employees make money, the entire supply chain makes money and your not left selling a souped up hand me down from another governments tax system. Thats US tax money, US jobs, pride in your neighbors abilities and a showcase for the world. Is that "out of fashion".....

A good salesman doesnt care about who makes it, how its made, whether its a good product or not etc, and that only works for a small percentage of folks. If your building castles and feifdoms that works, this is America however. When I say "doesnt care" it only means that it is not a limiting factor for his/her job.
