What was not made completely clear in the post was that the FOLO system is installed within the GPS unit and is, in effect, the operating system that is coordinating all of the client's desired functionality. So, there is a standard and a security within that system and that is FOLO (the core FOLO although there are many extensions of FOLO that can be packaged into that core). This was implicitly part of the explanation within the post, but it was not explicitly stated. Don't worry, the ECN FOLO product is wrapping the GPS capabilities into an integrated and powerful system.
