You're right about one thing people around the country have never been able to fathom the devistation of Katrina. I was born and raised in NO, never lived there as an adult, but had 11 relatives in my house and neighbor's house in Texas for a long time. My 89 year young step-mother was with us for 9 months before she returned to an assisted living facility in Kenner, couldn't stand being away from her birthplace. Her home which was 2 blocks from Pontchatrain on Canal Blvd., had 18 inches but it might as well been 18 feet because after being unable to re-enter for 6 weeks everything porous was ruined. Lives will never be the same. GLTY
