FWIW, Linux is dubbed "linsux" in Un*x woild. Has to do with the distributions: all distos want to catch the customer. Try to install an un-supported (not supported by your disto) software and you are back to manual install. So, go for BSD and learn Un*x the hard way, as we all did for DOS. Don't wait for Linux (Red Hat?, Novell/SuSe?...?). What's that Mac OS anyway? Un*x name was Darwin.<ggg> http://www.opendarwin.org/
In other words, Linux is a project of a core OS maintained by Linus Torwald vs. BSD a core kept portable by a community. So called "Linux" distributors are a sort of sellers of an own flavour of "Windows-user-friendly-install" packages. My Windows is so user friendly I can't have it work my way.
