Do you want to be tracked by your smart card? every time it's used don't you think data is taken from the card about where it was used each time before? That's really vaulable "marketing" information. It's no longer just a little magnetic strip, but a large memory area for data storage. Can you tell what's in it? Do you have any control over it? Smart cards are used in every satellite tv receiver. We can't mess with those at all. No idea what's in it, or how it works. It's all encrypted. You may say the credit card company has all of your purchases, yes, but that information is for you. And the Credit card company or bank. However, the smart card can make that informaion portable and available to a reader located where? Can it be read by merchants at point of sale termainal? Why can't people use ATM cards or credit cards just as conveniently? Will anyone tell us the answers to these questions?
