OT??: Braintech to Exhibit New Vision Technologies at RoboBusiness
Vision Suite Developed as "Value-Add" Components Using Microsoft Robotics Studio
Braintech (OTCBB: BRHI), a leading provider of robot vision technologies, will exhibit a pre-commercial version of its new VOLTS-IQ(1) robotic vision software suite at the RoboBusiness Conference, held May 15-16, 2007 in Boston, MA. (Go to www.roboevent.com for information regarding the conference.) VOLTS-IQ is a software development kit ("SDK") designed to work with Microsoft® Robotics Studio(1) development platform.

Owen Jones, Braintech's CEO, says, "Over the past decade, working with the automotive industry, we've developed world-class robot vision expertise. Now, with Microsoft entering the service robotics industry, we feel the timing is right to use our expertise and build robot vision software that enhances Microsoft's product offering. I feel that robots for the home, business and government will have real value only when they can see and react to the world the way humans can. This is our mission."

Braintech joined the Microsoft Robotics Studio Partner Program (http://www.braintech.com/press_12_13_06.html) for the express purpose of developing a suite of vision technologies enabling service robots to accurately and reliably locate, track and navigate around objects. Babak Habibi, Braintech's COO, states, "By combining Braintech's expertise and knowledge of robotic vision with Microsoft Robotics Studio, project groups can achieve reliable results, faster and at less cost than would be possible through independent research and development."

Braintech plans to showcase VOLTS-IQ SDK in the form of a Virtual Visual Driving demonstration. Attendees can control the movements of a virtual robot by moving a passive steering wheel in the air in front of a simple web camera. The system will use hi-speed visual object detection and localization to decipher the 'driver's' intent and control the virtual robot accordingly. Babak Habibi, President and COO of Braintech, states: "We chose the virtual driving scenario for the show because of its interactive nature and also because it does a good job of showing how a few Microsoft Robotics Studio based services can be wired together to build a visually intelligent project quickly. As a result, the increasingly powerful vision capabilities being incorporated into VOLTS-IQ when used with Microsoft Robotics Studio for development is going to help robotic developers realize results faster and in a more scalable and robust fashion."

Initial VOLTS-IQ SDK to include:

* Image Filtering: these services provide the ability to remove noise from an image, adjust brightness and contrast or to emphasize or suppress various attributes of a scene; examples include convolution, de-noising, edge detection and feature extraction

* Pattern Recognition: pattern recognition services enable training, searching, detection and location of physical patterns or targets based on color, texture, shape and other attributes; this ability is central to virtually all purposeful robotic vision applications

* Object Tracking: Object tracking services calculate motion commands for controlling the position and orientation of a camera mounted on a mobile robotic platform or a Pan/Tilt Unit (PTU) such that a desired pattern or target object remains within the camera's field of view or such that a desired camera to object relationship is achieved and maintained;

* Demos, sample code and tutorials on using above services

Braintech's exhibit is booth #102 at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street, Boston, Massachusetts. (go to www.roboevent.com for more information)
