Even though they are 2 seperate entities, I wonder what the implications are for Videolan using Videolan's Trademark? can you see how that would be confusing to a consumer? U.S. Trademark law allows for the trademark owner to prevent others from using the trademark (here in the U.S.). The trademark owner may even have legitamate claim to any videolan.org domain name, which is being used by the group in Europe.

As an interesting side note.. AVISTAR stock has shot up since we started digging into the connection..

also.. one of the officers of the company had a reported Indirect Disposition of a large chuck of stock on FEB 07, 2007 which was the day before our VLNT expiration date for the share dilution. Another coincidence?
