My questions to the posters claiming to be long, that are continually attacking management because there has not been significant revenue produced yet.
#1. How long does it take to put a foundry PDK in place?
#2 After a PDK is in place how long does it take to test the modulators to make sure they work and meets specifications?
#3 After Lightwave has tested and refined the production of the modulators, how long does it take to get interested potential customers to commit to testing them themselves based upon what Lightwave asserts they are capable of?
#4 How long does it take these potential customers to test the modulators themselves to satisfy themselves that they will work as intended in their equipment?
#5 After the customers decide Lightwave’s modulators will work for them and are the best solution for them, how long does it take Lightwave to convince the customers that they can produce the modulators in a volume sufficient to satisfy their needs?
#6 After all of the above are satisfied how long does it take the customer and Lightwave to negotiate a contract?
Add that the modulators need to go into transceivers to function in a data center and you add another layer of testing and negotiation.
You posters appear to believe this process is simple, it is not, it is very complex.
I will give you some additional information to help you answer questions.
The CEO of Smart Photonics ( a foundry) said it takes YEARS to put a PDK in place. Lightwave announced in May of 2021 they were going to use silicon foundry’s to produce modulators.
Samsung, Panasonic and a hundred other companies have been testing Enovix’s batteries for over two years in their equipment and to my knowledge have yet to sign agreements to purchase in volume.
It takes a lot of back and forth in negotiations to reach agreements on price and volumes, Lightwave and the customer are both trying to get the best deal they can.
Dr. Lebby tells us his best guess, but does not have control over the whole process.
Please don’t give me the I have been here for 20 years BS and have heard it all before.
Tell me how long the Current process to develop, produce and sell modulators should take. This is something new that has not been done before. If you put time periods to my questions above, I don’t believe we are overdue.
