I watched this video about the Invisicook:
What a piece of crap. And wow, you're telling me I can turn my stove on and off from my smartphone! Why didn't I ever think of that? Being in front of the stove and turning a knob or pressing a button on a control panel is just so....20th century.
And the exposed wiring on the control panel is fantastic:
and a great place for hot liquids to spill and crumbs to accumulate.
Just a bad idea. Another shitty solution to an imaginary problem.
My gym has an app that you can use to check in at the front desk. I, on the other hand, have a physical membership card with a QR code on it. The card is tethered to my gym bag...I hold up the card and get scanned without missing a beat. The "app people" have to take out their phones, start up the gym's app and tap tap tap until they get to the screen that allows them to be scanned in.
