As you say, there are many other uses of Lightwave's technology outside of transceivers. Transceivers have been described by the company as the likely first product that will offer LWLG fueled transceivers.

So what about the request by other companies for prototypes? Ted says it comes down to it means requests for transceiver prototypes. That is likely an oversimplification.
Prototypes can be run either for in house needs in the development process to asses variuos changes made in development, or in collaboration with other companies for use in their development of products using Lightwave's technology. It could mean companies that have an interest in incorporating Lightwave's technology into their current and future designs. This could include a company or companies working on Lidar, sensing, virtual reality, quantum computing, RF optical uses, or new inquiries from transceiver manufacturers not yet engaged.

There have been likely 7 foundries engaged in collaboration with Lightwave to develop PDKs and there could be more since that number has not been updated for a long time. It is highly doubtful they are all going to focus on chips for 800G and 1.6 T transceivers. It is likely development has started on other applications as such development does take a lot of time. It is likely that would not be talked about if there is concerns on stating that on the part of foundry partners. All foundries prefer to be the first out with new and enhanced products and they don't give blow by blow descriptions of development as Ted seems to think.

All of the hires are coming on very fast given the company's history of hiring. All departments have been beefed up. Hiring a controller and senior accountant is not there to keep counting over and over the $50,000 dollar initial licensing fee. The company is getting ready for a more revenues over the coming year.
There felt like an urgency on short sellers part yesterday to get the stock price down as if it could be soon harder to do. There could be more days like yesterday in the next week or so but I believe we will hear some news to shake things up before the end of the month. Dr. Lebby continues to talk ubiquity. He is very smart and has good advisors. He wouldn't be saying that if things were not ready to roll.
