Using only Windows, I don't know of any way to tell if an unrecognized drive is OK. There might be vendor utilities, but I don't know.
The only way that I know, to tell if the drive is OK, using Windows only, is to try and format it.
What I meant: Your information about the drive, so far as this conversation, isn't sufficient to determine if the drive is OK or not. All that you know is that the drive isn't totally dead (borked being the technical term ).
