I know if it was part of a RAID 0 set it cannot be read alone. What I'm trying to ascertain is whether or not this disk is 'good'. See, here's the thing. If both the drives I removed when I had the boot problem are 'good', then something else caused my crash, and I could simply reinstall the two RAID drives and go back to my RAID 0 setup, presumably.
OTOH, if one of the drives is 'no good', then I can reformat the good one, ghost my current (reconstructed) system onto it, and switch the HDs (the old one is only 37.5GB, more than sufficient for my purposes; the one I bought for backup purposes is 250GB, most of which is going to waste as my C drive).
You say, "It DOES NOT mean that the HD is OK", and later "Your hard drive isn't totally borked." What do you mean? Is it good or isn't it? Do I have to try formatting it to find out?
When I put it in the extHD case, I didn't expect Windows to be able to read it since it was half of a RAID 0 set. I just need to know if it is potentially usable, or 'not totally borked' as you say. How can I tell? TIA
