But why the recent increases?

The index funds that hold AVXL are tracking funds that track the Russell 3000 and the Russell 2000. They own AVXL because AVXL is in the Russell 2000


Well, sure.

But AVXL has been in the Russell for some good time, has it not? Explain, then, why any of the index funds would dramatically increase their AVXl holdings recently? That just happened. Why? They already had AVXL holdings, mimicking the Russell. Please explain.
