ImGettingBetter, the last short report was a record high at 18,368,256 reported on 01/13/2023; however it was just a very minor increase over the previous report of 18,252,546 on 12/30 2022. If that trend continued it should show a slightly lower short position on the next report.

When will the shorts need to cover?

That's the Million dollar question. Presently that last short report represents $209,398,118. That is a huge amount of money to protect. We are not seeing any moves to cover that so far.

It is going to take a significant news event to force the issue to cover. My guess would be news on the 50mg cohort results broken out of the combined 50mg + 30mg cohort that meets all primary and secondary end points, logical deduction says the 50mg cohort will be significantly better results over the combo.

That will be news of some Alzheimer trial patients getting better and some that stopped the decline with 50mg dosage. Those figures should start the shorts covering, considering what the value of shares will be looking forward once approved and revenues generated.

News of a partner ship with a huge up front cash payment for the privilege of partnering with Anavex, should finish off most of those still hanging in there short and maybe naked.

That's my guess when the shorts will start to cover in earnest.
