Hi Folks, I'm trying to save money on my Statin Script. I just paid $220 for a 90 day script of Livalo Brand (pitavastatin) 1 mg tablets. I've had good results (no side effects) for over a year now. My cholesterol levels improved also. I've since found out that Livalo (pitavastatin) is water soluble hydrophilic. It might be guesswork on my part but it's either the small dosage (1 mg) or that it's water soluble that is key (no side effects)? I asked my pharmacist which statins are hydrophilic. He told me Crestor, was.

I had issues with generic Lipitor (atorvastatin) which is hydrophobic resistant to water.
Does anyone have any ideas on what substitutes for (pitavastatin) or a statin that doesn't give one side effects? I'm looking for the lowest dose possible.
Perhaps maybe even simvastatin (Zocor) or pravastatin (Pravachol)?

TIA,
Nuke
