Many years ago I had to get up in front of the class, probably junior high, and gave the obligatory brief info about yourself speech.

A bit of a class clown, I thought it lightly humorous to include a sentence using the word “ain’t “ which launched the very proper English teacher type educator to nicely explain that “ain’t “ wasn’t the best or even appropriate grammar to have used in my speech.

When she was done trying to teach me such refinement, I couldn’t help but thank her and humorously restate “I still ain’t….” getting the hoped for laughs from the class, and the noooo reaction from the teach.

These posts reminded so much of that moment, and so I thank you!

If there’s a moral to my story it’s that painting outside the lines may be a sloppy job or a sign of ignorance, or it may be an intentional artistic touch, depending on the larger picture!
