You'll be doing quite well to see the Stros in the post season. A WC slot looks more and more likely for the Mets IMO. And you've played well, but at this point, Atlanta is a better team. I don't see many matchups where the Mets are stronger, excepting first base. And Olson is no slouch. At every other roster spot 1-9, bullpen and rotation, the Braves are flat out better or it's a negligible difference.
I think that now you're seeing what the Braves have that the Mets lack, which is depth. Atlanta has lost some pretty big pieces - Acuna, Albies and Kenley to name 3, but they're still putting up the W's.
In all fairness, the Mets probably overachieved at the start of the season and the Braves certainly were slow out of the blocks.
We're basically at the halfway mark and you've gotten fewer than 50 innings from your 2 big shooters, whose injuries are not the type that time alone automatically fixes. It's a bit of a fantasy to think they'll both be 100% this season, but hey, dreams are coming true in Houston every time Verlander takes the mound, so I guess you never know.
