At the time, I thought Li stepped down because everything was teed up and a dedicated ceo was all that was needed to keep everything on schedule.

That’s what made March such a kick in the nuts. From the sound of it Tony doesn’t have any idea where his next meal is coming from. He’s scrambling, throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what will stick, cutting costs, making deals with independent salespeople, hoping something will happen with medical, hoping some kind of halo effect will happen with Yihao and Eon.

Maybe it’s all an act to cover up the impending explosion of Liquidmetal parts into the market. If so, he deserves an Oscar on the way to the bank.

From today’s perspective I look back at Li’s departure and I think he was maybe burned out. After five years: no income to speak of, no contracts to speak of, a metric ton of dead ends. Perhaps he was talking to his old friend Tony or perhaps Tony called him and said, "Give me a chance. I’ll work my ass off. If there’s a contract to be found, let me try and get it." And Li said, “I got nothing. Be my guest."

So which is it? Did Li step away because Liquidmetal success is a fait accompli? Or because it’s a shit show and he was tired of banging his head against a wall? Only time will tell, but 9 months in it looks like Tony’s wheels are spinning. That’s not at all what I expected when he came on the scene.
