Approx 2% of the U.S. population are farmers, yet they get subsidies from the gov't. and that makes no sense.

Farming is a tough business. It's also a very complicated one. And since there're bad summers--and will be more of them, as climate change becomes a greater and greater problem--farmers need to know how to trade futures.

But... the people who mostly need help are the small family farms, which are disappearing at the speed of light. That's why only 2 percent of the populace does farming. I'm sure the giant corporate farms need less in the way of subsidies, or in some cases nothing at all.
