However other topics of the day such as sports, weather and trivia are certainly allowed considering that we all need
a little break now and again.

At a formal cocktail party 2 things that should never be discussed are religion and politics. Consider the dress code here semi-formal.

I get that man, in fact even though I have read the Ibox before, I made a point to read it again before I posted what I did. I don't blame a person for not wanting to discuss our political mayhem, it's a tough subject to deal with and it's a good thing to throw a little "off topic" discussion around at certain times. I got no bones to pick with that.

My original response that started this particular debate was just responding to some stock discussion of oil and "green" things and the fact that the GOP will have effect on certain values. It really wasn't this vs that or meant to get into any big deal, just a passing of conversation that I was responding to.

It somehow got turned into the point that when it is up for "discussing the current price increases and what has lead up to it and what will happen in the future" with our oil market, it is not "off topic" from the political nature. Because that discussion is directly tied to the political connection to it and any reasons for or solutions to, are determined greatly by the involvement of those connections.

I do appreciate though where you're coming from, and there is some fuzzy line in the political arena with it and there definitely is parts that don't fit in the issues that I was trying to address.

It's a hard subject for sure, and real difficult to discern from the grey where black and white are. Hard to get away from the emotions involved, both on the side that just doesn't want to hear all the BS with it anymore and on the side that has an emotional involvement with it.

I wish I was on the other side looking at the political demise on this side, but I'm not and have to deal with being connected to it.

I apologize for my part in making it larger than maybe it needed to be.

Kleptocracy: government by those who seek chiefly status and personal gain at the expense of the governed.
