tisdal, we don't know at what depth the deviation is started in order to reach the 700 m lateral at the bottom. Assume the deviation starts at the surface and that the well is 5531 true vertical depth. Then the total length of the well is 5575 meters, or 18,291 feet.

This length is less than the rig's capacity, so they likely stopped when drilling was no longer productive. That is a superior outcome to stopping when
a. the rig capacity is reached, or
b. out of funds
