Basically, the new government in Israel is very "green" and they don't want oil exploration (since oil is "dirty"), so they said that they won't give out any new licenses.

If the license expires and they aren't allowed to continue exploration, then the company is essentially done (until the law changes).

But there are a lot of conflicting thoughts on this.

Some take that to mean that ZNOG can get an extension (since it isn't "new"). But the problem with that thought is that there has been no news on an extension, and the license expires next week. To me, that is very troubling.

Others state that if ZNOG finds oil, then they don't need an exploration license anymore (since they don't need to "explore" anymore). They would need a production permit.
