Believe it or not, but Warner Brothers didn't want to record "Holiday" either. I guess they thought it was too "happy" when everything else was so sad at the time. No credibility, right? Wrong.
The writers, Pure Energy, had to sell it to a different artist even though they (and everyone else) knew that they had a smashing hit. But not Warner Brothers... The first two artists turned it down, and then the writers accidentally met with Madonna who was having an affair with an influential DJ.
As for Warner Brothers, they didn't even bother making a promotional video, as the poor girl (still a virgin at the time, alledgedly) went on stage. BOOM. Thanks, Warner Brothers.
