Thanks for sharing your experience.

My brother in law has published well over 100 peer-reviewed medical journal articles. I had asked him a while back how long the process typically takes.

His answer [with small edits]:

After a first submission, [it takes] 2 to 3 months to have a first response. [It's] rarely positive straight away so 2, maximum 3 corrections rounds [that takes] 4 to 6 months.

Once accepted, the publication itself depends on the journal process and the relevance/importance of the paper.

Around 9 months to 1 year is not unusual.



One of the reasons I'm not bent out of shape with the time this is taking.
